3.4c Media & PR Assessment

Local and regional coverage can be really important for event businesses across the UK, it’s critical, particularly for larger events, that you keep the local media on-side, as they have the power to influence local thoughts and behaviours, both good and bad.

One way you connect with local online, print, radio or TV organisations is through a press release. This is where you will send the bulk of information about your event to these institutions in hopes that they will cover it in their news or advertising outlets. Your task for this lecture is to write a press release for your proposed event.

It should be between 500-700 words in length, 1.5 spaced, font size 12, and should follow the structure laid out in the previous 4.2 seminar. It should be submitted in an editable format, such as Microsoft Word, Google Doc, or Pages format.

You should refer to the info in the previous press release seminar for specific guidance on how to create this piece of work. The example press release is in the materials tab above.

For this assessment and every assessment you upload on this course, please include your full name in the file name when you save it as well as the assessment name/topic. I.e: JOHN SMITH – PRESS RELEASE
