2020

THE PANDEMIC & SKILLS GAP

The year 2020 was a challenging one for the events industry. The pandemic hit hard, and over 100,000 people left the industry [Source: One Industry One Voice]. Everyone knew that events would eventually come back with a bang, but a void in the talent pool would mean that there would be 1000s of job opportunities, but not enough skilled individuals ready to fill them.

Our founder, Roger Woodall, a seasoned event professional and founder of the award-winning Bournemouth 7s Festival, foresaw this talent gap and set out to create a solution. Roger recognised that the traditional university route was outdated, and the industry wouldn’t be able to wait 3-4 years for people to complete their degrees. A new and innovative pathway into the industry was needed, and Event Crowd was born!

2021

COLLABORATING WITH INDUSTRY EXPERTS

We wanted Event Crowd to be the best. High standards of learning were required, and what better way to achieve those standards than working with individuals at the top of the industry. We worked tirelessly with 40 industry experts to build our curriculum. Each lecturer filmed a session in a specific subject that they were an expert in, from event planning to marketing to production. Over 18 months we completed 150 hours of filming and developed an innovative learning platform.

We’re proud to say that our efforts were recognised by the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), a leading organisation for global course recognition. They gave our course ‘Recognised’ status, confirming the quality of our content and delivery. We also became CPD certified, meaning that our course is now recognised as continuing professional development by industry bodies.

COURSE LAUNCH & FIRST 100 STUDENTS

After months of hard work and dedication from our team, we launched Event Crowd to the world. Our long term goal was not just to create a course, but also to provide our students with employment opportunities in the industry.

We were thrilled to that over 100 students enrolled during our first year, demonstrating that there was a genuine need for our Event Crowd. Based on demand, we also built our second course, the Wedding Planning Diploma, working with 8 experts from that industry.

A GROWING REPUTATION

Event Crowd has become a household name in the events industry. Our fast-growing reputation for producing high-quality new talent is becoming more and more recognised. We were thrilled to receive endorsements from the National Outdoor Events Association and the South Coast Events Forum. We had the pleasure of being invited to the Event Production Show, where some of our experts gave some in-person lectures, cementing our place as a trusted learning provider.

 

We’ve also seen our Alumni break into the industry, in roles at Chelsea Football Club, Bournemouth 7s Festival and Shack Events.

2023

Event Crowd has become a household name in the events industry. Our fast-growing reputation for producing high-quality new talent is becoming more and more recognised. We were thrilled to become the first and only events course to receive backing from the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), who gave our course ‘recognised’ status. We also received endorsements from the National Outdoor Events Association and the South Coast Events Forum.
